FAQ’s

What makes Silicon Valley Athletics different from other gyms?

  • We take pride in how hard we work and genuinely care about our clients. We strive to provide a community feel even though it’s a personal training gym. We put our hearts into everything we do and go above and beyond to make sure each client has all the tools needed to succeed inside and outside the gym.
  • Personalized instruction: we tailor every workout program to each individual’s needs and interests.
  • Individualized meal planning: we provide each client with a full nutritional plan based on his/her dietary preferences and restrictions.
  • Individualized programming: we provide clients with specific workouts to perform on their own throughout the week to help keep them on track even when they’re not with their trainer.

Are the sessions beginner-friendly?

Yes, our instructors work with clients of all fitness levels. They will help guide you no matter where you are in your fitness journey.

How many days per week do I need to work out?

Depending on your health and fitness goals, you’ll need to commit to a minimum of 3 days of exercise each week to see results. Any fewer, and it will feel like you’re starting over every time.

How frequently should I see a trainer?

The ideal frequency of personal training sessions varies from person to person. If you are just getting started with exercise, need regular motivation and support to get to the gym, or have an injury that you’re working through, you’ll probably need to see a trainer 1-3 times per week. Many of our veteran clients reduce the frequency of personal training sessions to bi-weekly or even monthly once they’ve demonstrated the ability to consistently get to the gym and progress their exercises as recommended. Our goal is to teach you, motivate you, and help you to be self-reliant in the gym. Although we miss seeing their smiling faces, we are always pleased when clients reduce their need to see us because they’ve become self-directed exercisers.

How quickly will I see the results of my training?

After getting your DXA scan, we will set a realistic timeline for visible change based on your current body fat percentage. Expect to feel the results of your training sooner than you see them. People who start a new exercise program and are consistent in getting their workouts done typically report improvements in sleep, mood, and energy levels within 2-3 weeks. Changes in body composition often take longer to notice. The more consistent you are with your workouts and the closer you adhere to your nutrition plan, the sooner you will notice results. Rather than focusing on the number on a scale, it helps to focus on things like how many more pushups you can now perform and how your favorite jeans fit. In our experience, the people who work out to improve their quality of life see a dramatic change in the way they look as a result.

What's the best meal plan for weight loss?

Any meal plan you can stick with for as long as it’s going to take. Studies have shown that regardless of the meal plan followed, adherence is the only thing that predicts success. We have thousands of meal plans available for our clients to choose from that allow for 100% customization using our swap option. Beware of any diet that promises rapid weight loss or expects you to consume fewer than 1000 calories per day. Although you may lose a few pounds in the beginning, chances are you’ll be unable to stick to it for the long-term. When it comes to weight loss, slow, steady and sustainable is key.

Do you offer online coaching?

We offer online coaching to intermediate and advanced lifters. We require a client train for a minimum of 10 session before being able to train 100% remotely. This allows us to find the appropriate weights and movements that are best for each individual client.

How do you stay motivated to workout?

The best way to get and stay motivated is to figure out your why. If your why is powerful enough, you’ll be motivated. You may initially think you’re working out to lose 20 pounds or fit into a pair of jeans, but why are you really working out? Think it over. Maybe your powerful why is to be a role model for your children or to be able to enjoy life more and maintain your quality of life as you age. We will help you find your “why” and you will look better, feel better, and have a better quality of life as a result.

I'm a parent, can I bring my kids?

We are perfectly fine with you bringing kids if they are able to hang out independently in our front sitting area; however, we do not provide childcare. Children ages 10-19 train for free with a parent or guardian with active sessions.

Do you offer discounts?

We offer a 15% discount to:

  • Students
  • Military servicemen and women
